LPG or Liquefied petroleum gas (Also known as LP Gas, autogas, gascar etc.) is a gas made from a mixture of different hydrocarbon gases and is used as a fuel in vehicles as well as for other appliances. Most commonly LPG is a mixture of 60 percent propane, 40% butane gas and has an international standard named EN589. When used to fuel vehicles such as LPG Jeeps it has the following advantages: its non-toxic, non-corrosive and free from any additives such as tetra-ethyl lead.
An LPG Jeep (and all lpg vehicles) benefit from the LPG burning more cleanly than petrol or diesel and is especially free of the usual composites from the latter.
LPG does have a lower energy-density than petrol or diesel, meaning the equivalent fuel consumption (mpg) is worse, but since the government impose's less tax, it is still more cost effective to drive a jeep on LPG.
